For nearly a decade, guitar legend Ritchie Blackmore, charismatic
vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Candice Night, and their eight-piece
band of minstrels have crafted an enchanting renaissance sound that
has earned them the devotion of fans around the globe.
WLIW presents
the group's television debut in Blackmore's Night: Castles &
Dreams, a live concert that blends soft rock music and European
folk melodies, played on Renaissance-era and modern day instruments
to create 'Renaissance Rock.'
The ancient
medieval castle of Burg Veldenstein in Germany provides a grand
and ethereal setting for the performance, where Ritchie, Candice
and company take a stunning musical journey through the many treasures
of the Blackmore's Night catalog and beyond. Long velvet
skirts rustle through castle courtyards while peasants, knights,
jesters and kings saunter down cobblestone streets as Blackmore's
Night casts its spell of mystical music using acoustic and electric
guitars, strings, eclectic instruments like hurdy-gurdy and bagpipe,
and Candice Night's ethereal voice. Included are such favorites
as "Home Again," "Renaissance Faire," and "Dandelion Wine."
Forged by a
common love of renaissance and Middle Age music, former Deep Purple/Rainbow
guitarist Ritchie Blackmore co-founded Blackmore's Night
with vocalist and Long Island native Candice Night in 1997. Over
the course of five studio albums, several live and compilation releases,
and many tours around the planet, they have truly perfected their
signature blend of renaissance and folk music with an effective
rock and roll flourish. The band continues to tour around the globe
and is preparing to release a brand new studio album, The Village
Lanterne, in April 2006. For more information on Blackmore's
