Gypsy Rose:
Blackmore's Night is proud to announce the addition of Gypsy Rose to
our group of Minstrels. Before joining the band, Gypsy Rose was
traveling the countryside with a band of rogue fiddlers. When she
first heard Blackmore's Night she immediately became enchanted with
their mystic melodies and found herself unable to play anything but
Ghost of a Rose! Though they tolerated this behavior for a time, the
wild-hearted gypsies soon grew tired of the soothing, sweet melody
and cast her off the vardo. Aimlessly wandering the valleys and
hills, Gypsy Rose searched for the magical minstrels who had
captured her bow. A chance meeting with Master Blackmore and Lady
Candice led to the only true remedy for her problem: a strict daily
regimen of Cartouche, Ariel, and very strong ale!

Earl Grey of Chimay - bass, mandolin, guitar.
Often enchanted with a musical spirit he can be found performing his
music throughout medieval forests and cavernous terrains where they
echo the melodic sounds resonating from the instruments played by
Earl Grey of Chimay. Assimilating an alchemistic approach to a
variety of instruments , he brings to Blackmore's Night his music,
camaraderie, a plethora of potent ale, and an extraneous habit of
being a bit verbose., yet a dash of humor emanates through the
serious facade-but he is always passionate about his love for the
music of Blackmore's Night.

The Minstrel Albert
- It was among the ancient stones and whispering winds of the
Jagsthausen Castle in Germany that Albert Dannenmann and Ritchie
Blackmore met for the first time. Perhaps Destiny allowed the two
minstrels to meet. Albert had been unlocking the secrets and
protecting the truths of every renaissance instrument that has
crossed his path during his musical lifetime, sometimes seeming much
longer than the thirty years it had been.
Albert’s band, “Des Geyers” was performing at the castle that night
in 1987. "Des Geyers” was already one of Europe’s premier
Renaissance bands, an honor held for 23 years now.
Following the meeting Albert developed a close friendship and
musical relationship with Candice and Ritchie. The first time he
played with the band was December 14,
1997, in Mainz. Since then he has
had the pleasure of joining them in many concerts around the world
as an opening act, special guest, and band member.
“It is such a great experience and such a good time to perform with
my friends Blackmore’s Night, and I am so proud to be part of the
talented minstrel band. Candice and Ritchie have been an ongoing
source of inspiration over the years of our collaboration. We have
such a wonderful platform to showcase the many moods and spirits of
my treasured renaissance tunes,” says Albert.
Albert plays instruments from the recorder family, reed instruments,
bagpipes, and the Hurdy Gurdy -- one of the earliest predecessors of
the violin.
